Asbestos Control

Purpose Protecting Workers and others from occupational illness associated with Asbestos containing materials.
Definition Asbestos is a heat-resistant fibrous silicate mineral that can be woven into fabrics and is used in fire-resistant and insulating materials such as pipe and duct insulation. The asbestos fibers are also used as a bonding agent in drywall taping mud, ceiling texture and in stucco. NOTE: All buildings planned for demolition built prior to 1990 must have had an asbestos inventory completed and submitted to the appropriate Regulatory Body. This will identify if asbestos is present and in what material. All asbestos containing materials must be abated and disposed of by a licensed Contractor.
