Hearing Conservation Program Directive

Purpose

Qualico is committed to ensuring Workers are protected from hearing impairment when working with significant occupational noise exposures, even if they are subject to such noise exposures over their entire working lifetimes.

Scope

To ensure Qualico Employees and Contractors are protected from hearing impairment, hearing protection must be used by all Qualico Employees and Contractors when exposed to noise levels are 85 A-weighted decibels (dbA) or greater. For Qualico Business Units in the USA, the OSHA requirement is hearing protection is required if exposure is above 85 dbA for an 8-hour period.

Hearing testing is deemed mandatory and will be performed on all Qualico Construction Site Workers in compliance with Applicable Legislation. Test results will be communicated back to Employees and kept in the safety records for annual analysis.

Directive

Qualico will supply its Employees with the most common types of hearing protection in the construction industry such as earplugs or earmuffs. Only CSA or ANSI approved hearing protection to be used on Qualico Work Sites.

Failure to follow this policy may result in premature hearing loss and is subject to disciplinary measures.
