Emergency Response Procedure
In the case of a dangerous good spill, the following steps can be taken:

  • Stop work immediately.
  • Identify the product that has been spilled.
  • Call 911 if there are any injuries or fires or any other concerns with the spill.
  • Isolate or evacuate the area as needed.
  • Read the Safety Data Sheet for the spilled product.
  • Determine the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment that is required.
    • This could include a respirator, gloves and / or eye protection.
  • If safe to do so, stop and contain the spill with a spill kit using appropriate materials and methods. You can refer to the corresponding safety data sheet for the substance.
  • Dispose of waste materials in accordance with local regulations.
  • Report the incident to the Qualico Health and Safety Department.
  • Report the spill to the local Conservation and other relevant Regulatory Bodies, if required.
  • Call a Local Environmental Clean-Up Company, as required.
